Market maturity and economically attractive technologies for the production, storage, transport and use of hydrogen exist only partially. H2Watt contributes to bringing together these individual components strategically.

The objective of the INTERREG H2Watt project is to prepare the economy, on both sides of the border and across sectors, for the new requirements and possibilities arising from the introduction of hydrogen.

The project seeks to do the following:

  • Look into the possibilities for generating, storing, transporting and using renewable energies;
  • Analyse, test and, where appropriate, introduce new, market-oriented technologies for hydrogen applications;
  • Carry out process development and modelling of a hydrogen added value chain;
  • Design a supply infrastructure or logistics chain;
  • Develop technology concepts and project approaches for the use of hydrogen for different user groups. Initially, the focus will be on four new projects using hydrogen: a water taxi, an island train, a residential area and a biogas plant.
