Your job and responsibilities

Interested in increasing the visibility of the EU and its >1 million politicians elected at local and regional level? Like to help your colleagues by making their work more visible in the media?

As a Press/media communication officer in the press sector, you are responsible for reaching out to the media to promote the work of the CoR and its members. 

You organise press conferences, media interviews, 

You are also responsible for measuring the quantitative output and promoting the qualitative successes of your media work as well as contributing to the overall effectiveness of the press sector. 

You are part of the dynamic team of currently 11 press officers including the head of sector.

Job-specific requirements

  • You have passed EPSO CAST FGIV
  • You have sound experience in press and media relations, briefing journalists, preparing politicians for interviews and securing coverage on tv, on the radio and in the press
  • You have strong communication skills, both written and oral. 
  • You have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another of the EU official languages. Our current team includes French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese and Finnish speakers. For functional reasons, a high level of English is required and a good level of at least one other new language for the sector is desirable.
  • You have a good command of IT applications and tools, such as Outlook, Excel, Word and SharePoint, including AI tools in a secure environment.
  • You are keen on working in a high-performing team, delivering communication materials to deadline, experimenting with new outlets, showing success and learning lessons where appropriate. 
  • You have excellent inter-personal skills, able to work directly with politicians and their support staff as well as policy colleagues and logistic staff.
