Climate Pact Ambassadors

Achieving climate neutrality by 2050 requires major changes across the economy and society, from energy and transport to agriculture and environment. Cities and regions play a central role in this transformation. By working closely with national governments, European institutions, and neighbouring regions, they translate shared climate ambitions into practical action on the ground.

The initiative

The European Climate Pact plays a pivotal role in the full implementation of the European Green Deal. It seeks to create an open and inclusive platform to engage citizens and communities in action for our climate and environment. The Climate Pact focuses on spreading awareness and supporting action, in order to connect and collectively develop and implement climate solutions, big and small.

CoR role

The CoR is actively working alongside the European Commission to ensure the success of the Climate Pact. In the framework of the Resilience initiative the CoR supports the call for Climate Pact Ambassadors for members to actively promote Green policies in their areas through communication activities and best practices. The Ambassadors provide regular feedback on how EU policies are working in practice and help strengthen coordination between local, national, and European levels.

CoR Climate Pact Ambassadors role

Once selected, CoR members will join the network of Climate Pact Ambassadors managed by the European Commission, be recognised as Ambassador, gain visibility for their climate action on the Pact Website and have access to communication tools (a communication kit is available). They will become champions for climate action, speaking at international events and encouraging cities and regions to become frontrunners in the implementation of the European climate and energy policies through the organisation of Climate Pact events at local level.

The Climate Pact Ambassadors' role is key to increasing citizens' participation in shaping the future of Europe. The debates on a green, clean and fair Europe organised in the framework of the European Climate Pact will hence feed the discussion on building a climate-neutral and resilient future. CoR members can find more information on how to become a Climate Pact Ambassador on the officlal EU webpage
