In view of the upcoming EU elections in 2024, Ms Arianna Censi (PES/IT), organised an EU Local Dialogue on sustainable mobility and ecological transition on Saturday, 23 March 2024, in Milan.
The event was supported by the European Climate Pact and C+ Milan Metropolitan City, and involved young local administrators and politicians. It is also part of the European Climate Pact Going Local Talks series.
The event included an interactive debate in the morning with interpretation in Italian and English and a training in the afternoon in Italian only. More information, including a detailed agenda are available on this webpage.
The event concluded in some major proposals for more action by EU, in:
- Investing in green mobility infrastructure;
- Encouraging the use of public transport and shared mobility;
- Educating and raising public awareness;
- Promoting sustainable mobility-oriented urban planning;
- Developing and promoting the construction of buildings close to public transport stations and creating multifunctional urban spaces that encourage non-motorised mobility;
- Implementing pedestrian policies and restricted traffic zones.
