What do we need Europe for? The citizens are cordially invited to discuss this topic at the EU Local Dialogue organised by Eka von Kalben (Greens/DE), MdL Representative for Schleswig-Holstein in the European Committee of the Regions.
Having brought 70 years of peace, open borders and prosperity, the EU is so omnipresent for us that we take its advantages for granted. But what would our lives look like if the EU did not exist? What if there was no common currency, no common internal market, no common border rules. What would happen with consumer protection, the protection of the seas and climate protection? These are some of the questions suggested for debate.
The event will also address the recent rise of right-wing parties across the EU, and the ways to regain enthusiasm for the European idea, particularly on the local level.
