The event on "The role of local and regional authorities in the future of the European Union, the organizational models for the promotion of the territories in view of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics Games and consequent cross-border cooperation", organised on the initiative of Matteo Luigi BIANCHI (IT/ECR), aimed to involve local and regional administrators, including economic and training actors, to reflect on the future of the European Union from a territorial perspective. In this sense, panels were organized for comparison between the various actors and working groups among the members of the event, who could interact with the institutional representatives.

These objectives were in line with the guidelines developed at the Conference on the Future of Europe.

To make the event more concrete, the organisers tried to analyze the role of Local and Regional Authorities in the context of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic event, where the territories will have to organize themselves to intercept the opportunities that will derive from the Winter Olympics through the promotion of the values of sports, peace, connection and cross-border cooperation.

The result of the working groups will then have to be applied to the territorial realities, by the municipalities, provinces and chambers of commerce, to better face the Olympics and the challenges they pose.

Members of the national parliament, Italian minister of economy, MEPs and local and regional politicians were featured on the agenda of the event.
