The effects of climate change are countered by means of nature-based, ad hoc solutions which also factor in the region's social and economic wellbeing, taking an approach based on sharing and co-design with local administrators and individuals.
The goal is to take a smart, systemic approach to making the city of Milan resilient by establishing an inclusive digital platform mapping the existing environment and procedures for co-designing and co-producing nature-based solutions (NBS).
There are three objectives: (1) to tackle and solve environmental and climate problems (urban heat islands, hydrogeological risk, improving air quality and reducing CO 2 emissions); (2) to develop biodiversity in a heavily urbanised area; (3) to promote shared, inclusive governance by means of digital tools and co-creation which can reach out to all individuals and key figures in the business world.
We have chosen to tackle this issue by means of a comprehensive approach, and so will choose and deliver NBS which will enable us to build resilient systems able to counter environmental and climate problems while also focusing on social wellbeing, local health, the civil economy and the region itself.
