Implement and disseminate the objectives of the Green Deal through a co-governance process and through a confluence of synergies and knowledge sharing.
The Andalusian Green Deal Committee was established in 2020 of their conviction that they could achieve the objectives of the Green Deal through collaboration and by implementing the Green Deal at local and rural level. Counting on co-governance models based on a combination of synergies, sharing knowledge and experiences and work, the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces has taken a leaf from the EU's book to revitalise the Andalusian territory to make the region, which is located in the south of Spain, a climate-neutral territory.
To do so it has enlisted 45 local authorities of all sizes, provincial councils and more than 70 private companies to work together towards a shared goal. Over the more than two years since its establishment, 11 seed projects to be implemented across the region in the fields of mobility, energy, waste, water, soil, etc. have been carried out; Green Deal objectives have been shared; capacity in various fields has been strengthened and events developed.
