Over time, as economic activity has grown, stress on environmental resources has increased, leading to water pollution and biodiversity loss and separating rivers and citizens. Guimarães river greenways are large-scale greenways (61km) through the blue infrastructure, promoting the rehabilitation of river banks and territorial cohesion, based on a participatory methodology and applying a three-dimensional approach:
