CoR member Clare Colleran Molloy (IE/Renew) will host the inaugural half‑day Europe Day “TY” Summit on Friday, 8 May 2026, taking place in the Clare County Council Chamber in Ennis. This special event brings Transition Year students together to explore Europe, democracy, and Ireland’s place within the European Union. 

The Summit was officially launched on 11 March 2026 at the West County Hotel in Ennis by Cllr Paul Murphy, Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, marking the start of an exciting and engaging initiative for schools across the county. 

TY students are invited to form pairs and prepare short presentations on one of the following themes: 

  • The EU’s biggest challenges
  • The EU as a peace project
  • Benefits of EU citizenship for young people
  • How the EU institutions work
  • Ireland’s opportunities in the EU 

Prizes and Opportunities 

The winning student pair, together with their teacher or coordinator, will receive a fully sponsored trip to Brussels, generously offered by MEP Billy Kelleher. Additional prizes are available for other participating pairs and the winning school, ensuring wide recognition of student efforts and creativity. 

How to Participate 

Schools are strongly encouraged to take part by submitting the Entry Form by 15:00 on 27 March 2026 to: ccolleranmolloy@gmail.com 

Final presentation submissions must be sent by 24 April 2026.
