  • Territorial cohesion

This local walking dialogue aims to strengthen the connection between European institutions and local communities, while encouraging active engagement in EU affairs and policymaking. Through contributions from members of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and experts, participants will discuss good practices, exchange experiences on multi-level governance, and explore how EU programmes can support local and regional development initiatives.

The event seeks to foster cooperation, peer learning and networking among European, regional and local actors. Expected outcomes include stronger links between participants, increased awareness of EU engagement opportunities, enhanced visibility of the EU Local Councillors Network, and the identification of practical approaches to cross-border cooperation, citizen engagement and the effective use of EU funding.

This Local Dialogue is part of a full-day full-day joint activities on cross-border cooperation and EU funding opportunities at local level. This workshop consists of different elements: a morning session followed by this walking dialogue led by CoR President Kata Tüttő offering exchanges between CoR members, local councillors and young politicians. This is followed by a discussion with senior CoR and EC representatives on institutional cooperation and ways to further promote and expand the EU Local Councillors Network.

This EU Local Dialogue, organised by CoR member Anton Mattle, is part of the "Euregio Days" (28–30 August) program, in the framework of The European Forum Alpbach 2026 (EFA2026) taking place in Austria from 24 August to 4 September.
