  • External border of the EU

“Local Governments on the Front Line of Europe’s Security” is an EU Local Dialogue organised by CoR member Tadeusz Truskolaski (PL/EA) in Białystok, Poland, as part of the Cohesion and Border Development Forum. The event will provide a platform for dialogue on the role of local and regional authorities in European security policy, with a particular focus on the challenges and opportunities facing border regions.

The discussion will examine the evolving role of cities and regions in strengthening Europe’s security and resilience, cooperation between the European Commission and local and regional governments, and the practical dimension of preparedness at local level. Participants will address issues such as dual-use infrastructure, investments that enhance resilience, crisis preparedness, and the contribution of industry and innovation to Europe’s security ecosystem. The dialogue will also explore how regions can support technological development, strengthen European supply chains and benefit from EU support for the defense sector. The conclusions of the debate will contribute to the broader European discussion on the future of security and resilience.
