The Bosalliantie (Forest Alliance) is a joint project involving Flemish regional and local authorities and nature and forest associations. We are a partner of the EU's 3BT campaign. We have been active since 2019 and since 2023 we have also been working with eight youth movements. We want to plant 10 000 hectares (ha) of forest by 2030. This is important for climate change mitigation and adaptation, health and social aspects and biodiversity. So far, we have planted 1 120 ha of additional woodland, making us one of Europe's largest foresters. This is remarkable, given that Flanders is only a small region, and is highly urbanised. In the autumn, we will hold a major planting event with the Flemish youth movements. This will be one way for them to turn their climate protests into a tangible contribution to a greener world...
