Summary of the Project

In a series of interviews, the project captures the experiences, accomplishments and aspirations of the CoR's members and president during the CoR's 7th term of office. Key questions focus on identifying and discussing significant achievements, impactful opinions that have influenced EU policies, and the areas that the CoR is expected to focus on during its next term of office. A video is then put together aimed at showcasing the CoR's key successes, influential opinions and future priorities, while insights into how to improve the transition to a new term of office are also highlighted. Additionally, the video could help new members in the upcoming – 8th – term of office in their adjustment to the CoR's work. By engaging CoR members in discussions about their expectations and reflections, the project aims to offer pleasant, easy to follow creative content, providing a template for helping members prepare for future terms of office, while promoting awareness and open dialogue on current and forecast CoR priorities and policies.

Objective

This project is designed to document the achievements, challenges and insights of the outgoing committee, providing a basis for the incoming one to build upon. In doing so, this season's [Y]-Factor project fosters a culture of continuity, reflection and preparedness, ensuring that each term of office contributes to a stronger, fairer and more resilient Europe. Additionally, the project aims to enhance awareness of the CoR's pivotal role in ensuring that regional and local perspectives are taken into account in EU decision-making.

Results

This year's [Y]-Factor consists of a video providing highlights of the impact of the CoR’s 7th term of office on EU policy-making, underscoring its vital role in incorporating local and regional perspectives into broader European strategies. Notable opinions are mentioned, such as the integrated EU policy approach for the Green Deal, cybersecurity and the digital transition, underscoring the CoR's role in empowering local and regional authorities as well as in supporting and encouraging innovation in the shift towards more sustainable, resilient cities. Furthermore, our project touches on possible areas of focus for the next term of office, such as human rights and immigration, as indicated by the CoR members being interviewed.  They mention issues ranging from long-term cohesion, openness and innovation to digital infrastructure and economic competitiveness as being long-term goals to pursue during the next term of office.
