Greater energy independence of our country, which is a big topic these days, not only at the level of our region and Slovakia, but the whole European Union. Possibility of heating or production of hydrogen - green energy.

The Košice self-governing region has completed drilling works on a geothermal borehole in Čižatice in the Košice-okolie district. The geothermal borehole in Čižatice is good news for the Košice Region. The temperature of the water and the spring's capacity make it possible to start the preparation of important projects. Projects that will increase employment. They will boost tourism and increase the attractiveness of the region. There are several possibilities and the geothermal water can be used not only for the purposes of an aquapark. According to the results so far, there could also be a geothermal power plant to produce hydrogen, use it for heating or select lithium for other purposes. The Košice Self-Governing Region wants to use the geothermal water for the purposes of an aquapark, but thanks to the high temperature and sufficient overflow, wider possibilities of use are opening up. The county would also like to use the geothermal water source for the construction of a geothermal energy plant that would be used for the production of hydrogen. However, the possibility of partial heating of the city of Košice is also open. "I am glad that thanks to this project, the use of geothermal energy in eastern Slovakia has also started to be discussed more at the national level. Gradually, other similar projects may come, which will mean greater energy independence for our country, which is a big topic these days, not only at the level of our region and Slovakia, but the whole European Union" added the chairman of the region, Rastislav Trnka.
