Libertà, democrazia locale e parità di genere premiate dalla rosa dei candidati al premio del sindaco Paweł Adamowicz di quest'anno
The award ceremony of the fifth edition of the Mayor Paweł Adamowicz Award took place on 5 March during the plenary session of the European Committee of the Regions in the European Parliament.
The new laureate is Ekrem İmamoğlu, long-standing mayor of Istanbul and a major opposition figure in Türkiye, imprisoned for political reasons. His award was accepted on his behalf by the Acting mayor of Istanbul, Nuri Aslan.
The CoR President and the award partners, the city of Gdańsk and ICORN (International cities of Refuge Network), as well as MEP Magdalena Adamowicz, presented the award to the Acting mayor, as well as a token of Special recognition to Ms. Mary Crilly, Director of the Sexual Violence Center in Cork, Ireland.
