Working Group on Ukraine

The Working Group strengthens the relations between the EU and Ukraine by bringing together CoR members, EU institutions, and representatives from Ukrainian cities, regions and local authorities. By promoting dialogue and cooperation, the Working Group contributes to the work of the CIVEX commission and the consultative work of the CoR.
The Working Group on Ukraine was set up on 6 April 2020, building on the work of the Task Force on Ukraine, which was created on 12 February 2015.

Role

The Working Group monitors the developments in Ukraine with particular attention to the European integration of the country, decentralisation reform, capacity building for local and regional authorities, meeting the conditions for future EU membershipand the alignment with the EU acquis. It can also advise Ukrainian local and regional authorities in their effort to tackle the consequences of the Russian invasion, as well as recover and reform.

Composition

Ms Antje Grotheer (DE/PES, President of the Bremen State Parliament ) is chairing the Working Group, which consists of 13 CoR members ( and one observer) who can be replaced by 13 other members/alternates. See the members of the Working Group.

Meetings

The Working Group meets twice a year, once in Brussels in the framework of the Enlargement Day event and once in Ukraine.
