Your job and responsibilities

Interested in bringing your expertise in digital transformation to establish an Enterprise Architecture (EA) practice? Are you interested in aligning IT systems with institutional objectives, supporting the exploration and adoption of innovative technologies such as cloud and AI? Can you find the sweet spot bringing business value with efficient and cost-effective changes within the committee's broad and dynamic IT ecosystem?

As an Enterprise Architect in the Digital Solutions unit, you are responsible for aligning the institution’s digital services with its strategic objectives by designing and maintaining enterprise architecture blueprints that cover business capabilities, data flows, IT systems and technology platforms. You lead the adoption of innovative technologies such as cloud and artificial intelligence within a coherent, modular and secure architectural framework, support the establishment of data governance and reusable technical building blocks, and ensure that IT initiatives are consistent with the organisation’s long-term vision. Working closely with Business Relations Managers, delivery teams, and cybersecurity specialists, you facilitate architecture workshops, promote best practices, and foster a collaborative, people-centred approach to transformation across the organisation.

You are part of the dynamic team of the Architecture and Standards sector, which consists of two officials (including the head of sector) and a consultant.

Job-specific requirements

  • You have passed EPSO CAST FGIV[1]
  • You are proficient in communication, with the capability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • You can translate a strategic vision into concrete actions.
  • You have a strong technological background that facilitates understanding the solution portfolio, assessing the impact of innovations or business demand. 
  • You are skilled in prioritizing changes while considering impact, technical constraints and opportunities.
  • You have proven experience in enterprise architecture, IT portfolio management, data governance or a related field. Familiarity with TOGAF or other EA frameworks is desirable. Knowledge of an EU institutions' IT landscape and its challenges is beneficial.
  • You have solid experience with architecting secure cloud solutions and legacy system transformation. Experience with Azure Cloud, Entra ID and awareness of Dynamics 365 and PowerBI/Fabric is advantageous.
  • You have experience in coordinating or managing complex IT projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • You possess skills in integrating different perspectives and promoting a collaborative environment. 
  • You are a team player capable of taking responsibility and working autonomously.
  • You have a competence in handling business conflicts and negotiating solutions effectively.
  • You know Committee policies and regulations pertaining to IT (GDPR, AI Act, Cybersecurity regulation, …) and know how to evaluate compliance with them. 
  • You have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another of the EU's official languages. For functional reasons, a thorough knowledge of English is required; a satisfactory knowledge of the French language would be an asset.
