On the occasion of Europe Day, this EU Local Dialogue, organised by Antonio Mazzeo (IT/PES), aims to promote the opportunities that the European Union offers to citizens, with a special focus on cohesion policy and its impact on local territories and communities. The discussion will highlight how EU policies and funding programmes can support local development, strengthen social and economic cohesion, and bring Europe closer to citizens’ everyday lives.
The objective of the event is to encourage dialogue between European and local representatives, demonstrating how EU action can generate concrete benefits at municipal and regional level. It will also offer an opportunity to reflect on the role of local institutions in fostering European values, participation, and development.
The event will take the form of a round table featuring Stefano Bonaccini, Member of the European Parliament; Michelangelo Betti, Mayor of Cascina; Luca Menesini (IT/PES), Member of the European Committee of the Regions; and Giulia Guainai, Councillor of Cascina.
Expected outcomes include increased public awareness of EU opportunities, a better understanding of cohesion policy, and stronger engagement between citizens, local authorities, and European institutions.
