#EUGreenDeal

The European Green Deal is the European Union's ambitious plan to make the continent climate-neutral by 2050. This comprehensive set of policies and regulations will transform the way we live, consume, move, work and produce energy. The success of this initiative relies on the collaboration and commitment of all EU Member States, local and regional authorities and society as a whole.

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is committed to playing a large part in achieving this objective and to ensure that local and regional perspectives are always reflected in the EU roadmap, leaving no one behind. In order to accelerate the green transition, and to ensure that territorial approaches are observed in the landmark EU strategy, the CoR established the Green Deal Going Local Working Group. With a political engagement and communications campaign, the CoR aims at empowering Europe's local and regional leaders to take action to address the climate, environment, biodiversity, energy and pollution crises.

The #EUGreenDeal map is an emerging and evolving effort by the CoR to show how EU cities and regions are taking action to decarbonise and make the European economy resource-efficient, where the well-being and health of citizens and of nature are protected and improved.

The collection of best practices is the CoR's greatest asset, since the map showcases how local and regional communities are transforming their way of living, working, producing and consuming, and how they are trying to achieve environmentally sustainable and socially just economic growth. By sharing successful initiatives, other cities and regions can be inspired to adopt similar practices and accelerate the transition towards a sustainable future.
