Local-Cir: Promoting entrepreneurship in the green and circular economy

Lokation: Extremadura, Extremadura, Spanien

  • Circular Economy

This project is important because it defines activities seeking to address new societal and business demands by supporting entrepreneurship and the implementation of a green and circular economy strategy that facilitates the development of the business fabric at local, rural and regional level.

The overall objective of Localcir is to promote initiatives and measures aimed at developing a sustainable economic sector, using endogenous resources and creating high added value products. This will involve launching different services in cooperation with businesses, the administration and social stakeholders.

The Localcir project is being developed to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in circular economy businesses through the Interreg V-A Spain-Portugal (POCTEP) programme, and seeks to create a support service to boost entrepreneurship and encourage the consolidation of new business ideas in the green and circular economy. By promoting new products and processes based on local sustainability, Localcir will improve the competitiveness of rural businesses.

To this end, a green route methodology will be established for the development of the green and circular economy in rural areas. A permanent support service will also be launched and the circular model will be promoted, with 225 companies which have been created under this umbrella or whose activities and processes have been improved.

The methodology resulting from the project will allow future green and circular economy policies to be planned. In addition, the capacity of institutions promoting enterprise will be strengthened through the green route support service.
