On 5 December 2023, Members of the Broadband Platform discussed topical issues that are currently very high on the agenda of the EU institutions and national authorities. The European Commission presented the first State of the Digital Decade report and funding possibilities for connectivity under the Digital Decade. The report takes stock of the EU's progress towards a successful digital transformation as set out in the Digital Decade Policy Programme 2030. In addition, the CoR rapporteur on the EU Cyber Solidarity Act and Digital resilience opinion​ Pehr Granfalk reported back from the CoR ECON conference on Digital Resilience held in Wismar, Germany on 19 October 2023.

Furthermore, concrete experience from the use of Artificial Intelligence and of preparations to be a city player in the metaverse were presented by cities' representatives and practitioners, underscoring the key importance of being informed about and adopting new tools for public administration at subnational level.
