This event, organised by Andres Jaadla (EE/Renew) at the Event Centre, Spordi tn 14, 44307 Rakvere, Estonia, will focus on the urgent need to build and implement a European Climate Adaptation Plan - a cornerstone for a resilient and sustainable future.
As climate-related disasters grow in intensity and frequency, European cities and regions face dual challenges: striving for climate neutrality while also investing in climate adaptation and resilience. The dialogue will explore how to:
- Innovate investment strategies and better utilize existing European funds.
- Strengthen local responses to extreme weather and long-term climate shifts.
- Address the rising costs of protecting public and private assets.
- Develop a EU-wide solidarity mechanism, such as a reinsurance system, to fairly distribute climate-related insurance costs across regions and sectors.
This conversation is essential for adapting our local economies and societies to new climate realities -ensuring that Rakvere and other EU communities are equipped to face the future.
