This EU Local Dialogue, organised by Jesús Ángela Garrido Martínez (ES/EPP), will take place at Escuela Riojana de Administración Pública, Pl. Joaquín Elizalde, 24. The aim of the event is to analyse the proposal for the next long-term EU budget and the cohesion policy, with a particular focus on how it reflects the needs of local and regional authorities, as well as the positions of the European Commission and EU co-legislators.
To achieve this, the event will bring together representatives from the EU institutions responsible for negotiating the next EU budget, including the European Commission (represented by the EC Representation in Spain), the Council (represented by the Spanish Ministry of Finance), and the European Parliament. Additionally, there will be representation from the EU regions and municipalities through the Government of Galicia (Head of the CoR Spanish Delegation and coordinator of Cohesion issues for the Spanish regions’ delegations in Brussels), the Government of La Rioja, and municipalities from La Rioja.
The main audience for the event will include mayors and representatives of the municipalities of La Rioja, representatives of the regional Administration of La Rioja in charge of EU funds and projects, and other organizations involved in the implementation of EU policies, such as stakeholders participating in the Monitoring Committees of Operative Programs and Local Action Groups. During the debate, the focus will be on the needs of the regions and their role in the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), especially in cohesion policy, with the aim of ensuring that the European institutions take these needs into account in their negotiations.
