This EU Local Dialogue, organised by CoR member Konstantinos Bakoyannis (EL/EPP) in Amalia Hotel, Athens, Greece, is part of the “EU Regions Week – Close to You” series of events.
As the climate crisis intensifies, European cities face mounting threats from floods, heatwaves, wildfires, and infrastructure disruptions. This high-level session brings together national ministries, regional and local governments, civil society organisations, youth networks, and technical experts to explore how cities can build systemic resilience and prepare for climate-related emergencies.
Co-hosted by INZEB, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), and the Regional Union of Municipalities of Attica (PEDA), the event will showcase practical strategies from Greece and across Europe. Discussions will focus on adaptive capacity, emergency response, and integrated risk management, with a strong emphasis on participatory governance and the role of the EU Climate Pact in local capacity building.
This is a unique opportunity to generate proposals for improved institutional cooperation and preparedness frameworks, supporting the goals of the European Green Deal through resilient local governance.
