The event, organized by the Democracy XXI Association in collaboration with the PES Group and Carolina Darias San Sebastian (ES/PES) in Palmeras Hall, Hotel Santa Catalina, aims to create a space for reflection and open dialogue with citizens on the state of democracy in the European Union and in Spain.

This initiative aligns with the political priorities of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), particularly regarding the strengthening of democracy, the rule of law, and citizen participation.

Through an in-person, participatory format, the meeting will address key democratic challenges in the European context, such as political disaffection, the need to strengthen trust in institutions, the fight against disinformation, and the promotion of shared democratic values.

It will also mark the anniversary of democracy in Spain as a milestone for reflecting on progress achieved and the challenges that remain.

The event will feature political and social representatives at the European, national, and local levels and will be moderated by the Democracy XXI Association to ensure a pluralistic and accessible debate. The expected outcomes include increasing citizens’ knowledge of European democratic policies, promoting civic participation, and fostering spaces for dialogue that reinforce a strong and participatory democratic culture.
