Opening of the exhibition entitled. “Samaritans from Markowa" is scheduled for January 30 at 13.00 on the 5th floor next to room JDE 52. The event will be opened by Marshal of Podkarpackie Region Władysław Ortyl, and a short lecture will be presented by Ph. Dariusz Iwaneczko, Director of the Institute of National Remembrance in Rzeszów.
The exhibition consists of twenty-two boards, presenting documents and photographs illustrating the history of the Ulma family and the life of the Polish and Jewish communities from Markowa. Starting with the tragic history of the Ulma family, the author describes further examples of saving Jews in Markowa during the German occupation (II World War), where Poles saved 21 lives. It also shows the scale of such aid throughout the region. The exhibition is closed by documents from the beatification process of the Ulma (10.09.2023) family and a diploma awarding Victoria and Józef the title of Righteous Among the Nations.
