  • Renewable and clean energy (solar, wind, clean hydrogen, etc..)
  • Energy efficiency in buildings
  • Carbon/Climate neutrality

Renewable energy share in Zagreb’s energy balance is very low. Natural gas dominates in both primary energy as well as final energy consumption. Integrated rooftop solar, as part of REPowerEU initiative, must become a standard.

The project Solarization of Institutions of the City of Zagreb (acronym: SOLIZAG) aims to increase the use of renewable energy sources in institutions and real estate owned or founded by the City of Zagreb and at the location of the real estate which is owned by Zagreb Holding.

The increase in the use of renewable energy sources will be achieved through the implementation of eight pilot projects where solar power plants with a total capacity of 1.43 MW will be built for the purpose of self-consumption.

The implementation of eight pilot projects will increase the use of renewable energy sources by 1400 MWh and reduce CO2 emissions by 222 t / year. The applicant of the SOLIZAG project is the City of Zagreb, and Zagreb Holding acts as the national partner. In addition to the national partner, the project also involves a partner from the donor country (Norway), the Energy Farm International Foundation. The estimated duration of the project is 18 months. The total value of the project is 1,169,421.62 EUR, of which 994,008.13 EUR is the grant component from the EEA Programme.
