In 2024-2025, at the initiative of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship, the “Regio-Silience” project was implemented under the Interreg Europe 2021-2027 programme. Its main goal was to develop recommendations for adapting regional development instruments to better address the current socio-economic situation of the Eastern regions of the EU.
The success of the abovementioned project provided clear impetus for organizing an annual event in the Warmia and Mazury Region, which could become a forum for international discussion on the perspectives and challenges of the Eastern border regions.
This EU Local Dialogue, organised by Marcin Kuchciński (PL/EPP), Marshal of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship, will include:
- a workshop (April 28, 2026), during which the “Regio-Silience” project partners will work on a network concept for future cooperation;
- a conference (April 29, 2026) will provide a platform for discussion on the vision for the EU's eastern border regions, with particular emphasis on the European Commission's Communication “Strong regions for a safe Europe”.
The event will bring together representatives of local and regional authorities from countries including Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland.
