The Foresight Network of EU Cities and Regions is a working-level exchange space for local and regional practitioners using strategic foresight. It supports peer learning, the sharing of practical experiences, and discussion on foresight methods, tools and cooperation opportunities.

The first online meeting, held in March 2026, launched the network and focused on the Basque Country 2040 foresight exercise. This case showed how long-term visioning can help a region build a shared direction around competitiveness and well-being, while strengthening dialogue between institutions, stakeholders and citizens.

Building on this first exchange, the second meeting will continue the focus on practical foresight experiences and methods. It will feature the regional foresight project “Corsica Pruspettiva 2050”, which explores four possible scenarios for the future of Corsica. This case will show how a region can use foresight to think about long-term change, structure dialogue and prepare for future challenges.

The programme will also include a session by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission on scenario development and exploration, offering practical insights into one of the key methods used in foresight work.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, exchange updates from their organisations and contribute to the continued development of the network.
