The European Committee of the Regions is delighted to host the final event of the REGIONS2030 Pilot Project - Monitoring the SDGs in the EU Regions: Filling the Data Gaps - on Tuesday the 5th of December 2023.

The event marks the end of the REGIONS2030 Pilot Project, a collaborative effort between the European Commission, European Parliament, and 10 pilot regions to co-design and develop an indicator set for monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the regional level in Europe. The project is being carried out by the Joint Research Centre in collaboration with DG REGIO and Eurostat, and financed by the European Parliament.

Featuring presentations by an impressive lineup of speakers, the event will showcase the project's final results, providing insights into the value of using regional indicators in monitoring and achieving the SDGs. We hope to illustrate the pivotal role of regional indicators in monitoring progress on SDGs and their contribution to shaping policymaking at the regional level.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a meaningful discussion on specific topics related to the SDGs and regional indicators, with an emphasis on exploring the challenges and opportunities related to the implementation of the regional indicators and the vast potential for regional cooperation and the exchange of knowledge to achieve the SDGs in Europe.

The event hopes to enhance your understanding of the role played by regional indicators in monitoring SDGs, providing strategies for implementing regional indicators effectively and providing insights into the significance of regional cooperation in achieving sustainable development throughout Europe.
