This meeting brings together members of the European Parliament - ENVI committee - and ENVE members to exchange views on Building a sustainable future: funding environment and climate policies in the next Multiannual Financial Framework, together with representatives of the European Commission and of the European Environment Agency.
The topic of the meeting is a CoR key priority. The European budget is to be seen more than a financial framework, but as one of the instruments able to turn Europe’s climate and environmental ambitions into action.
Cities and regions deliver EU priorities in practice, from competitiveness and housing to climate resilience, clean energy and the green transition.
Since its creation, cohesion policy has been one of the main engines of climate action, allowing each region to direct resources towards its most urgent territorial needs, from climate-resilient infrastructure and protection against disasters, to circular-economy solutions and sustainable energy production.
