Most Europeans still say they get their news about the European Union from television and radio. You will be working in a dynamic team of media professionals supporting CoR members – politicians from the most trusted level of EU democracy – to promote their work as the voice of the more than 1 million local and regional leaders. Their messages on cohesion, resilience and proximity range from supporting Ukraine's cities and regions to encouraging better gender balance in local politics. As an EU communicator, this is your chance to make a difference in the most important channels, with the most trusted messengers and the most inspiring messages. At the heart of the Unit, working within the press sector and in collaboration with the audiovisual team, your role would be to:

  • Develop, manage and consolidate the press relations with audiovisual journalists in order to promote the CoR into TV and radio at EU, national and local level;
  • Liaise with the accredited press corps in Brussels and EU member states, and pitch stories, ensuring that information is appropriately targeted on relevant media;
  • Draft press releases, organise press briefings, interviews and TV/radio debates for the journalists;
  • Identify, contact and invite audiovisual journalists for key CoR events;
  • Liaise between the CoR services and external or internal service providers;
  • Contribute to the regular maintenance and updating of the media database and distribution lists;
  • Contribute to make media monitoring smarter and more insightful, with a particular focus on audiovisual media monitoring and analysis;
  • Liaise with the audiovisual team in relation to use of TV crews and coverage facilities including the studios on premises;
  • Act as business continuity backup for colleagues in the audiovisual team;
  • Manage contracts, budgets and serve as operational initiating agent (OIA).
