  • Clean and sustainable mobility

Due to its capacity for replication, transfer and internationalisation, Electromove will demonstrate the economic and technical feasibility of electrical induction as an alternative to the internal combustion engine, significantly reducing oil consumption.

In its first full year in 2018, the system carried a total of 10.2 million passengers and this rose to 11.7 million users in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 15 %.

In 2019, the metropolitan rail system in Granada exceeded the figure of one million passengers per month for a period of six months, bringing the average number of passengers per day to 32 109, a figure which rises to 35 634 passengers on working days. By the end of 2019, the system had carried a total of 24.5 million passengers since its inauguration. There has therefore been sustained growth in demand.

In the 2019 satisfaction survey, passengers on the Granada metropolitan rail system gave an overall score of 8.32 out of 10, compared with 7.94 in 2018. It is therefore a service that citizens consider to be of high quality.

In addition, the ministry of development, infrastructure and land-use planning has already implemented and is currently carrying out, via the Public Works Agency, a number of compensatory works associated with the metropolitan rail system in Granada, such as the construction of a roundabout in Churriana, the Camino Nuevo de Maracena, the parking area at the AVE high-speed train station in Granada, and the redesign of Paseíllos Universitarios de Fuente Nueva and the Arabial-Palencia axis, among others things.
