Objective
The European Union’s stockpiling strategy provides clear guidance on material preparedness and crisis management. However, there are still several issues that need further review and clarification to make sure the strategy is implemented effectively. The development of a clear governance model is of paramount importance, one that explicitly defines the roles and responsibilities of the EU, national, regional and local levels, as well as the relevant sectors involved.
The CoR aims to make suggestions to strengthen the role of local and regional authorities is essential, define the roles of local and regional authorities and to clearly outline the tasks and responsibilities at the EU, national, regional and local levels, including tailored proposals as regards supply management, efficiency and resilience of supply chains, infrastructure maintenance and the development of crisis response capacities, including through the reinforcement of cross-border cooperation, etc.
