F’din il-paġna

On 10 December 2024, the European Commission proposed targeted amendments to the current legal framework set in the Regulation establishing a common market organisation of agricultural products (CMO) and a new Regulation on cross-border enforcement against unfair trading practices. These proposals aim to strengthen farmers' position and restore the trust between actors in the agri-food supply chain. Both proposals directly reflect several recommendations of the Strategic Dialogue on the future of EU agriculture and respond to some of the most pressing challenges that the agricultural sector faces.

The agreed timetable for the adoption of the opinion is as follows:

  • First discussion and adoption of the draft opinion at the NAT meeting on 4 March 2025;
  • Adoption at the plenary session of  14-15 May 2025.

Our rapporteur Loredana Capone (IT/PES) would like to gather the views of key stakeholders on this important topic. The stakeholder consultation will be interactive and primarily focused on stakeholders' input and presentation of their views on the subject. The meeting will be held in English and Italian. The draft opinion will be sent to the registered participants on 31 January.

Webstreaming will be also available (no possibility to take the floor).
