Your job and responsibilities

Do you have a sound expertise in social media and are familiar with its latest developments? Do you have a comprehensive understanding of current EU policies and related CoR campaigns? Have you created thumb-stopping content, including videos for a variety of social media channels? Are you experienced in EU-wide online campaigns and have excellent social/digital marketing skills? Do you have hands-on experience managing projects, paid social media campaigns and external contractors?

If you answered yes to most of these questions — you are reading the right vacancy and will be interested in joining the European Committee of the Regions (CoR). As a social media specialist, you will be responsible for a range of social media actions, both paid and organic. You will be covering a variety of topics and initiatives from a regional or local angle in the service of the CoR and its Members. Together with the team, you will also explore new channels and formats, always adapting to the changing social media landscape. You will also need to “go beyond social media” either as “Campaign Manager” for or by co-leading, from a social media perspective, one of the three CoR’s communication campaigns. The responsibility entails driving these campaigns forward in coordination with other communication and policy colleagues across the CoR. 

Your responsibilities will entail: 

  • Strategic planning, communication and implementation, liaising with policy and communication colleagues across the entire CoR;
  • Providing strategic recommendations, implementing and analysing social media campaigns both organic and paid;
  • Maintaining and developing the CoR social media channels;
  • Managing employee engagement and employer branding on social media;
  • Researching, sourcing, developing, managing and monitoring social media content that is channel-specific and is in line with latest trends with a wide range of creative tools; especially videos (reels, social media LIVEs etc);
  • Analysing the results and boost further both our communication campaigns and the CoR's social media presence in general;
  • Managing relations and creative projects with external contractors.

Job specific requirements

  • You have a thorough knowledge of an official language of the EU and a satisfactory knowledge of another official language of the EU. For functional reasons, a thorough knowledge of English or French is required. 
  • You are a social media expert with a broad range of experience in digital media marketing and communication, and follow thoroughly new developments in the field, trying out new trends and producing content tailored to different platforms and audiences. 
  • You have experience in employee advocacy and employer branding on social media. 
  • You have strong knowledge of the Adobe Suite or other digital image or video editing tools, including AI based tools.
  • You have experience with social media components of web streaming on multiple channels and with multiple tools.
  • You have advanced knowledge in working with social media analytics tools, both external tools and those inherent to the platforms, and tools such as Talkwalker, Hootsuite. 
  • As an experienced project manager, you have strong coordination and financial skills and you are able to follow multiple projects at the same time, respect tight deadlines and deal with external contractors. 
  • You have proven experience in managing EU Framework Contracts and experience with the procurement of digital communication tools. 
  • You have a special interest in one of the three CoR communication campaigns, as well as broader knowledge about local and regional aspects of EU policies.

Assets

  • Experience in running EU-wide campaigns both organic and paid as well as in building and managing online communities would be an asset.
